General recommendations:
- You can contribute to a single Unit or multiple. Just make sure you have at least 6 hours minimum per Unit of available time to contribute.
- We recommend you explore only 1 or maximum 2 Units at a time. People tend to join everything out of curiosity but experience has shown us this strategy often leads to overwhelm and never gaining enough context on any Unit to figure out how to contribute.
- Compensation and rewards will vary from Unit to Unit. See this doc for details: Working at RnDAO: what to expect
- RnDAO is mostly a self-led community, meaning that you’re invited to learn about the different Units and suggest how to contribute to the one(s) that interest you. In many cases, we don’t have roles defined upfront for you to apply, but you’re always welcome to propose your own role or way to add value.
Steps to join a Unit
- Join our instance of Dework (our project management tool), so we can allocate tasks to you: https://app.dework.xyz/rndao-1/overview
- Read the pages of the Units you selected in Notion:
- Join the Discord channel of the Units:
- Go to the channel #select-roles under the Discover category and click on the appropriate emoji to get the Supporter role in your desired Unit
- If any meetings are happening, feel free to join and listen in. (You can always say you’re a new member curious to learn about the unit). Joining meetings allows you to get a sense of the culture and vibez of the unit.
- introduce yourself in the Unit’s channel by sharing
- What your motivation for contributing is (are you looking for work to pay the bills or more of a side project to learn or…?)
- Your skills and abilities you can contribute with
- Ask about the best way to learn more about the Unit and what meetings to join
- Ask if someone in the Unit could do a call with you
- A team member will soon contact you. If no one does in 24-48h, the Unit might be inactive or the team too busy. In that case, best to explore other Units.
